Antique Victorian Mourning Ring with Hidden Hair Panels 14k
Antique Victorian Mourning Ring with Hidden Hair Panels 14k
*Late Victorian mourning ring with concealed hair compartments in the band. The tips of the panels are tucked under the signet shield -woven hair is visible when the hinged panels are lifted.
*A signet shield at the front of the band allows for this piece to be engraved - there are no initials or dates as-is, although it is stamped with “14k” along the inside of the band. The rest of the band is beautifully engraved.
* This style of ring was made popular in the 1860s-1890s as a way to memorialize a loved one or gifted as a token of love or friendship.
➾ MEASUREMENTS (taken flat)
-ring size: roughly 7.5 - 8
➾ CONDITION - Great! Some patina around the hinges and light wear where the panel tips are tucked securely behind the shield. The woven hair has a bit of wear as well, but it’s completely intact.
