RARE 1930s Celluloid Prison Folk Art Ring / Mourning Ring / Large
*Throughout the 1930s, prisoners would carve these rings - typically out of their own toothbrushes - and worn as a symbol to keep loved ones close/romantically or as a symbol of mourning.
*The photograph is of a woman - the photo is surprisingly crisp and clear.
* I have read in the past that these were also created during the World’s Fair in the 30s. Either way, this ring is a remarkable and rare piece of history.
