Antique 1910s Beaded Silk Dress
Antique 1910s Beaded Silk Dress
Antique 1910s Dress
* Sheer silk fabric - I believe it to be silk crinkle chiffon as the fabric is semi-lustrous and has a bit of a crepe-like texture. If it weren't for it's semi-lustrous shine, I would bet on silk georgette fabric instead.
* Several decorative buttons along both sides of skirt, at each side of waist, and along sleeves
* Getting into this dress involves a lot of fasteners, but easy to do alone! Several hook & eyes/snaps along left side of skirt and along waist.
* First layer of bodice has two hook & eyes at middle front
* Heavily beaded front panel at bodice snaps along left side of garment at gathered waist shoulder.
* Beautifully beaded tulip design on sailor collar
* Two panels at skirt - one in front and an additional beaded panel in back
* Slightly pointed sleeves - looks stunning draped over the hands
* Would make a stunning wedding dress!
➾ MEASUREMENTS (taken flat)
-bust: 19 in.
-shoulders: 18.5 in. although I believe the shoulder seams are supposed to drape past your natural shoulder line a bit
-sleeves: 24 in.
-waist: 14 in.
-hips: 24 in.
-total length: 50.5 in.
➾ CONDITION - Great! This dress has held up incredibly well over the years. All of the beading appears to be intact except for a roughly 3-inch portion on left side of bodice, although I don't think anyone would notice as it appears intentional. Two small marks on right bottom sleeve. A few spots along right side of skirt below hip - near 6th button down, along with two sections of light spotting near front bottom right hem that have a pink-ish hue to them - both sets of these stains look as though someone tried to get them out at some point, as there are light marks around each one. These marks are clear - the best way to describe is that the fabric itself is brighter in those areas. Same can be said for what looks like another potential "clear" mark near bottom right side near buttons, although an actual stain here is not present. Lightly yellowed watermarks at back sailor collar above beading. A tear has started to form at top left shoulder - I would suggest adding additional backing or patch for support in the future just to be safe.
